Two downtown Palatine businesses awarded facade improvement grants

The Palatine village council has approved grants for two downtown businesses to spruce up their exteriors.

The Belmonte State Farm Insurance office building at 17 W. Railroad Ave. will receive up to $43,920 and the Music Room at 26 N. Brockway St. will get $50,000 under the village’s Downtown TIF District Facade Improvement Grant Program.

Launched last year, downtown businesses can apply to be reimbursed for half of eligible expenses up to $50,000. Four businesses have already taken advantage of the program, using the entire $150,000 allocated in the 2012 budget.
