Gurnee woman denies using stolen credit card
A Gurnee woman pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges she used a stolen credit card on a mini shopping spree.
Danielle Ferrara, 23, faces up to five years in prison if convicted of forgery and unlawful use of a credit card but would also be eligible for probation.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Marykay Foy said a Round Lake Beach man went to Gurnee police on July 19 to report he had lost his wallet in a local restaurant.
The man went to cancel his credit cards later the same day, Foy said, and was told there had been three recent transactions on one of the cards.
The credit card had been used to charge a total of $139 at a pair of gas stations and $243 at a department store after the man lost his wallet, Foy said.
Police checked the video from the surveillance cameras at the department store, Foy said, and were able to identify Ferrara as using the stolen card.
Officers went to Ferrara's residence in the 700 block of Route 21 and found her car parked in the driveway with the merchandise from the department store still inside.
Associate Judge George Bridges scheduled a trial for April 16 and ordered Ferrara, who is free on $500 bond, to appear in court March 21.
