Man charged in sex abuse of Warrenville girl
A man accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old Warrenville girl was jailed Tuesday on $100,000 bail.
Phethsana Luangkhoth, 37, of the 900 block of Alcoa Avenue in Melrose Park, faces three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Authorities said Luangkhoth instructed the victim to touch him inappropriately on several occasions at her Warrenville home. The defendant had known the victim for more than a decade through one of her family members, Assistant State's Attorney Kirsten King said.
In a police interview, Luangkhoth described the alleged contact as “accidental” and said it escalated because the victim was “curious,” King said in bond court Tuesday.
DuPage County Judge Elizabeth Sexton ordered Luangkhoth held on $100,000 bail, meaning he would have to post $10,000 to bond out.
If released, the defendant must stay away the victim and report regularly to the probation office, the judge ordered.
Luangkhoth returns to court Feb. 28.
