Schaumburg seeking volunteers to honor

Schaumburg once again is looking to honor unsung heroes who make the community work for the benefit of all.

But they’ll all remain unsung unless you sing their praises.

You know who they are, those individuals or organizations who think only of improving the lives of others rather than their own comfort.

The village will formally recognize one adult, one youth and one organization at its 25th Annual Volunteer of the Year Awards Luncheon, taking place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17 at Chandler’s, 401 N. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.

Nominations will be accepted until April 1 online at prairiecenter.org or by email to rbenvenuti@ci.schaumburg.il.us.

Nominating information should include the name, address, phone number and email address of both the nominee and the nominator as well as a 250-word or less summary of the nominee’s volunteerism.

Entries should also clearly indicate whether the nominee is being entered in the adult, youth or organization category.

Nominations can be mailed or delivered in person to Volunteer of the Year, Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg IL 60193.

All nominees will receive a merit certificate. Each of the three winners will receive a plaque.

Nominees can represent social, civic, religious, community, school and medical organizations but for-profit and political organizations are excluded.
