• Two plasma televisions, two PlayStation game systems and corresponding controllers and games, two laptop computers, jewelry and gym shoes were stolen sometime between 8 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Wednesday from a home in the 600 block of St. John Street, according to police reports.

• The catalytic converter was cut off a Chevy Tahoe sometime between 7:30 and 10:15 p.m. Wednesday while it was parked in the 1900 block of Holmes Road, according to police reports.

• Someone cashed a fraudulent check for $1,810 and tried to use three others between Dec. 23 and Jan. 31, according to police reports. An Elgin woman told police her bank contacted her about the suspicious account activity and would refund the money that was taken out, reports said.
