Algonquin Middle School hosts community open house

Des Plaines Elementary District 62 will showcase the improvements and renovations completed last fall at Algonquin Middle School during a community open house Thursday, Feb. 9.

The public is invited to visit and tour the school, located at 767 Algonquin Road, from 6 to 7 p.m. before the fifth and sixth grade band/orchestra concert. The school, originally built in 1954, underwent upgrades including interactive technology, fresh paint and flooring, and upgraded HVAC and lighting systems.

The renovation, part of District 62’s Master Plan, improved the flow of vehicular traffic and created additional learning spaces with a new two-story commons area and cafeteria and the conversion of the original cafeteria to Technology Integrated Learning Environments.
