Wheaton man faces child pornography charges

A 59-year-old Wheaton man has been charged with possessing and disseminating child pornography, authorities said Wednesday.

John Diebold of the 300 block of South Gables Boulevard was being held in the DuPage County jail on $200,000 bail.

Diebold is accused of possessing pornographic videos involving boys and girls younger than 13, one of which he allegedly disseminated by computer, according to court records. He was arrested Tuesday as the result of an undercover investigation by Wheaton police detectives, police said.

Diebold is facing three counts of aggravated child pornography and two counts of child pornography, court records show. The most serious charge is punishable by up to seven years in prison.

Diebold's next court date is Feb. 6 in front of Judge Robert Kleeman. He would have to post $20,000 to be release from jail.
