Second prostitution charge at S. Elgin spa
A South Elgin spa has a new name but an old problem.
Police arrested 65-year-old Son Jang, of Arlington Heights, on prostitution charges Friday, less than a year after arresting a Bolingbrook woman on similar charges in the same location, according to Sgt. Mike Doty.
The massage parlor at 1314 W. Spring St., was called Heaven Spa when 44-year-old Naomi Suh was arrested last March and charged with solicitation of prostitution and keeping a place of prostitution, among other charges.
Doty said officers conducted an undercover checkup Friday on the renamed Sport Spa, only to find the same conduct. This time Jang offered to perform a sexual act for money, Doty said.
The owner of Sport Spa could not be reached for comment Sunday.
Jang paid $150 bond for her misdemeanor prostitution charge and is due in court at 9 a.m. Feb. 27 in Elgin.
In the meantime, Doty said the village is researching further action.
“Our village will be taking a look into more legal recourse as to what they can do with the business itself,” Doty said. “Until they reach that consensus at the legal level, we’re doing everything we can to stop it.”
