Rockford IceHogs rally to edge Chicago Wolves

The Chicago Wolves fired 39 shots at Rockford on Saturday night, but the IceHogs scored on a pair of their shots in the third period to earn a 3-2 victory and disappoint the 15,920 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont.

Byron Froese of the IceHogs (17-21-1-3) notched what proved to be the game-winner unassisted at the 10:01 mark of the third period.

The Wolves (21-16-1-3), who lost their fourth straight game, received goals from Kevin Connauton and Tim Miller. Connauton’s 10 goals this season lead American Hockey League defensemen.

“Sometimes in this game you don’t get what you deserve,” said Wolves coach Craig MacTavish. “I thought we played one of our most complete games of the season tonight, but we didn’t walk away with 2 points.”

Eddie Lack (17 saves) was in goal for the Wolves.
