Faubert’s late goal sparks Express win

CINCINNATI — The Chicago Express snapped a 10-game winless skid on the road, defeating the Cincinnati Cyclones 4-3 at the U.S. Bank Arena on Friday night.

The Express scored just 38 seconds into the game when Scott Wietecha converted a pass from Chad Painchaud.

With the game tied 1-1, Anthony Maiani assisted on Devin DiDiomete’s goal. Chaz Johnson gave the Express a 3-1 lead after one period on a power-play goal. But the Cyclones battle back for a 3-3 tie.

With 6:48 left in the third period, Pierre-Luc Faubert scored what proved to be the game-winner for the Express on assists from Tyler Donati and Johnson. Donati finished with 3 assists.

The teams play again today in Cincinnati.
