Grant helps Bartlett improve water monitoring

Bartlett is buying a new telemetry system to monitor its water and sewer operations with $460,000 in grant funding from the Illinois Department of Commerce.

The system will replace one that is 20 years old and incompatible with newer components of the village’s water and sewer operation, including the Bartlett Hills Golf Course lift station and the Southwind Boulevard Tower. The new system will increase monitoring capabilities, and allow village staff to access information from the village’s 21 lift stations and well sites from a single computer at the wastewater treatment plant.

It also will save $56,000 in annual lease fees that are being spent on hard wire lines. The new system will eliminate electrical interferences and allow village staff to respond faster to any potential problems in service.

The state funding was obtained with the help of state Sen. John Millner of Carol Stream and state Rep. Randy Ramey of Carol Stream.
