Benefit for accident victims:
Buck Wild in Island Lake will host a bake sale to benefit the Shirey family of Island Lake on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m. Some members of the Shirey family were involved in a fatal accident in late 2011 on Route 12 and Old McHenry Road. Ten-year-old Griffen Shirey died in the crash, and his twin brother, Nicholas, hospitalized. Fifth Third Bank of Island Lake has set up an account for donations to the family to help with the medical costs resulting from the crash. The bake sale will be at the Island Lake bar at 27509 Beech St. There will be raffle prizes and 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale go to the Shirey family.
