Mount Prospect wine shop closing

Vino 100 in downtown Mount Prospect is closing this month, according to owner Jennifer Martinez. The franchise store that advertises 100 different wines for $25 or less opened in September 2007 at 110 S. Emerson St.In an email to customers, Martinez blames the economy for the store#146;s closing, but said in an interview Thursday another problem was the time it took to get licenses for tasting events.#147;I still believe that under normal circumstances Mount Prospect is a great place for a wine shop that focuses on what tastes great to you,#148; she said in the note to customers.Martinez said she would like to find a job in the wine industry because of all she learned while selecting and selling artisan wines. As owner she was never able to take a salary from the shop, she added. The last day of operation probably will occur during the last week of January, depending on when the inventory is sold, she said. Furnishings and equipment also will be for sale.#147;We have customers who are looking for wine not found at the grocery store or big box store,#148; said Martinez. The store#146;s phone number is (847) 253-8466 and its website is vino100mtprospect.com/
