Chicago Wolves storm back for victory

The Chicago Wolves trailed 2-1 after one period, but they stormed back with 4 unanswered goals to earn a 5-2 victory Thursday night over the Abbotsford Heat at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont.

Mark Mancari scored twice and added an assist for the Wolves (14-10-1-3). Jordan Schroeder, Victor Oreskovich and Tim Miller also scored as the Wolves won for the fifth time in their last six games.

“I thought we started well despite the score,” said Wolves coach Craig MacTavish. “We gave up 2 power-play goals but we were able to capitalize when we received the man advantage and it helped us earn 2 points.”

Trailing 2-1 heading into the second period, the Wolves tied the score when Mancari converted a rebound off a shot from Mark Matheson.

At 10:46 of the period, the Wolves took a 3-2 lead when Schroeder scored on Mancari’s rebound. The Wolves’ lead grew to 4-2 when Nathan Longpre dropped a pass to Oreskovich for the goal. Miller scored a short-handed empty-net goal with 49 left.

Goalie Eddie Lack (6-7-3) stopped 29 shots for the win.
