District 62 invites students to make cards for soldiers

Des Plaines Elementary District 62 students who want to participate in Gov. Pat Quinn’s mission to make holiday cards for troops have until Wednesday to submit handmade cards.

Cards should be addressed to “Illinois Heroes” and may be dropped off at any District 62 school office or the Leon Smaage Administration Center, 777 E. Algonquin Road, Des Plaines.

The district will send the cards to Quinn who will be visiting Landstuhl Regional Medical Center — the largest American military hospital outside of the continental United States, located 80 miles southwest of Frankfurt, Germany — the week before Christmas to personally deliver the cards.
