Community support got ‘Encore’ the win

I want to thank the community for their support of “Encore!” in our quest to win a $20,000 donation for the Lauri S. Bauer Foundation for Sudden Loss though a national contest called “Sing” sponsored by Deer Park Town Center and DDR.

You voted, posted, told a friend, or your co-workers about our desire to receive this $20,000 donation, and YOU made this happen.

We are also appreciative of the Buffalo Grove Park District, my District 96 family who was so supportive with facility needs and helping to get the vote out and the business community who took our fliers and requests to heart.

While last spring we toyed with the idea of entering, it wasn’t until we realized that we had a civic and community duty to try to assist a local foundation that was in its infancy with regards to seed money.

Always considering the Buffalo Grove Singers as “the chorus who cares” (“Encore!” is an offshoot that performs year round), we decided that with our voices, we could make a difference. Channel 2 News became involved and the intensity of the final week was very emotional, when Scott Bauer described what the Foundation’s goals were and how “Encore!” was trying to help them meet their needs.

With nearly 4,000 votes in the lead, we were declared the winner. Through perseverance, hard work, and prayer, we made our dream a reality.

While I am the lucky one that conducts these amazing men and women, the community is lucky to have citizens that respond to a request for help. I am so proud to live and teach in the Buffalo Grove and have the opportunity to work with people who care passionately about making our home a better place to live.
