Mascillino to lead committee
Island Lake Trustee Connie Mascillino has been named head of the panel's finance committee. She replaces Trustee Laurie Rabattini, who abruptly resigned her post on the committee last month. Mascillino — the board's longest-serving member — had led the committee until May, when Rabattini was appointed to the job. Trustees Chuck Cermak and Shannon Fox and Mayor Debbie Herrmann voted to reappoint Mascillino at Thursday's board meeting, while Trustee Donna O'Malley opposed the move. Mascillino abstained. Rabattini and Trustee Thea Morris were absent.
