Pedestrian struck and killed in Glendale Heights crash

A 69-year-old man was struck and killed by a car as he crossed a street in Glendale Heights Monday evening, authorities said Wednesday.

The pedestrian was crossing Glen Ellyn Road near Winthrop Avenue around 6:50 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle headed southbound. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he was pronounced dead, according to Commander Dennis Schar of the Glendale Heights Police Department.

The victim was identified as Daviel Romero Mena of Glendale Heights.

The driver of the vehicle has not been cited, while authorities continue to investigate the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact police at 630-260-6070.
