Man crashes van into Arlington Heights home
A 44-year-old Mount Prospect man has been cited after veering off an Arlington Heights Road early Monday morning and smashing into the back of a home, according to police.
Yang Soo Yang was driving a minivan on North Buffalo Grove Road when he drove off the road, crashed through a wooden fence, snapped a pine tree in two and struck the back of a home on the 1300 block of Eton Drive, police said.
“He went off the road and traveled quite a distance,” said Arlington Heights Fire Cmdr. Bill Essling.
Yang suffered multiple broken bones when the 2002 Kia Sedona crashed into the brick walled rear of the home, police said.
He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital to be treated for the injuries, which were described as nonlife threatening, said Arlington Heights Police Sgt. Tom Boggs.
None of the residents of the home were injured in the accident, according to police.
A nurse at the hospital told police it is possible Yang suffered a diabetic reaction, which might have caused the crash.
Two brick walls on the home were damaged in the crash, but the home remained habitable, Boggs said.
Yang was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage and driving without insurance, according to police.
