Washington man charged in Wheaton burglaries

Wheaton police have arrested a Vancouver, Wash., man in connection with five burglaries this month, authorities said Friday.

Charles E. Antal, 23, was charged Thursday night with six counts of theft and posted bond, authorities said.

The thefts occurred between Oct. 16 and Oct. 19 on the 500 block of East Franklin Avenue. Police say a television, musical instruments and electronic equipment were stolen from dormitory rooms on the campus of Wheaton College.

The arrest concludes a busy week for police. On Thursday afternoon, police announced they were investigating at least 11 burglaries that occurred between Oct. 9 and Oct. 26. A 16-year-old male was arrested later that evening in connection with two of those cases.

Police continue to investigate the remaining burglaries and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective James Volpe at (630) 260-2055.
