Jim Dobbs named honorary chair for Shelter Inc. annual ball

Jim Dobbs, president of Woodfield Financial Advisors, will serve as Honorary Chairman for Shelter Inc.’s 24th annual Charity Ball “Puttin’ on the Glitz” to be held Nov. 18 at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield in Schaumburg.

Dobbs and his wife Jan are longtime supporters of Shelter. Over a decade ago, they began their relationship with the organization by offering a warm and loving home for children in need as Shelter foster parents. Since that time they have continuously offered their support of Shelter’s events, programs and mission.

Woodfield Financial Advisors is a personal financial planning firm in Rolling Meadows.

Guests attending the Charity Ball can expect striking décor, a four-course epicurean meal, silent and live auctions, raffles and music to dance into the evening. Dick Johnson, anchor and reporter for the evening’s media sponsor, NBC5 Chicago, returns as host.

Shelter Inc. is a nonprofit child welfare agency that protects abused and neglected children and adolescents by providing foster care, emergency and longer-term group home services in a safe and caring environment.

The Healthy Families Program provides home visits to first-time parents emphasizing children’s well-being and positive parenting. Increased public awareness concerning child abuse, neglect and other social problems directly impacting children and their families is accomplished through their Community Education program.
