Man killed in Schaumburg pedestrian accident

An autopsy conducted Tuesday determined a 30-year-old Schaumburg man died of multiple injuries after being struck by a car Monday night while crossing the 800 block of Roselle Road, authorities said.

Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said the man, identified as Reynaldo Celestino, was crossing from the west side of Roselle when the southbound car hit him at about 9 p.m.

He was transported to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, but died at about 2 a.m., Nebl said.

The name of the driver is being withheld while the accident remains under investigation, Nebl said.

Investigators are trying to determine fault for the accident, he said, adding that it remains unclear at this time whether Celestino stepped into traffic in front of the vehicle. Celestino lived near where the accident occurred.
