Palatine native doesn’t win Month at the Museum

Palatine native Katie Duff, 29, may not have won the Museum of Science and Industry’s popular Month at the Museum 2 competition, but she and the remaining finalists do get to spend one night with the Chicago museum’s artifacts and exhibits.

The winner, Kevin Byrne of Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, was announced Tuesday morning. He receives $10,000 and the opportunity to live in the museum around the clock for 30 days.

Duff, an eighth-grade science teacher in Southwest suburban Frankfort, graduated from Fremd High School. The other finalists hailed from central Illinois, Michigan, New York City and England.
