Batavia police release ID of man killed in crash

Batavia police Monday afternoon released the identify of a man killed in a Saturday afternoon crash on Kirk Road.

The victim is Thomas A. Anderson, 48, of the 1100 block of West Wilson Street, Batavia.

Police believe a passenger in his vehicle is his wife, although she has a different last name. Julia Blanquet, 40, of the 1100 block of West Wilson Street, remains in critical condition at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, according to the prepared statement police released.

Police have not determined the cause of the crash.

The four-vehicle crash happened when Anderson’s vehicle, which he was driving north, entered the southbound lanes near Wind Energy Pass and hit three vehicles, according to a police report. Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people in those vehicles — including Marina P. Carrillo, 46, of Aurora — were treated at Delnor Hospital in Geneva. Two others — including Robert J. Strum 57, of Aurora — were treated at the scene.
