St. Charles resident killed in head-on collision

A 48-year-old St. Charles resident was killed Saturday in a head-on collision along South Kirk Road, just north of Wind Energy Pass, authorities said.

Batavia police say they are continuing to investigate the crash that involved four vehicles in all and sent three other drivers and passengers to area hospitals for treatment.

Police released few details about the crash initially, but said the collision occurred at 3:06 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle northbound on Kirk veered into the southbound lanes and struck three oncoming vehicles.

The driver of that vehicle, whose name was being withheld pending notification of family, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 40-year-old Batavia resident, was transported from the scene by helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. That person’s name also was withheld.

Treated and released from Delnor Hospital in Geneva were Charles E. Holt, 39, of Lemont, and Marina P. Carrillo, 46, of Aurora.

Treated and released at the scene of the crash were Robert J. Strum, 57, of Aurora, and Reginald R. Redmond, 23, hometown not given.
