Illegal immigrant flow not under control

Froma Harrop’s column in the Aug. 25 Daily Herald was a surprising piece for me to read. Her claim that enforcement of illegal immigration laws has reduced significantly the flow of illegal immigration is in direct contrast to the flood of mail I have been receiving, reporting on the lax control of our southern border resulting in a constant stream of immigrants coming into our southwestern states.

According to such organizations as Americans for Immigration Control, U.S. Border Control, the American Border Patrol and FAIR, our southern border is not under control, and the federal government is not halting the flow of human beings and drugs across our borders.

Ms. Harrop’s piece glosses over the very significant part of the illegal immigration situation, in my view, which is the unending flow of immigrants across our borders.

The problem is not so much dealing with immigrants already here, but rather halting the influx coming in so that our country can have the time and resources to absorb the “undocumented workers” already here.
