Mount Prospect man pleads guilty to delivering crack cocaine

A 30-year-old Mount Prospect man pleaded guilty to delivery of a controlled substance Wednesday.

A Cook County judge sentenced Anthony Garner, of the 1700 block of Sable Lane, to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for Garner’s guilty plea to the class X felony, which carries a possible sentence of up to 30 years in prison. Garner received credit for the 80 days he has spent in custody since his arrest.

Mount Prospect police arrested Garner in July following an investigation by the Special Investigation/Gang Intelligence Unit into reports of someone selling crack cocaine in the vicinity of the Forest Cove Apartment Complex near Busse and Algonquin roads.

Undercover officers purchased crack cocaine from Garner on two separate occasions, police said.
