Annual Octoberfest returns Saturday in Fox Lake

Fox Lake area residents are invited to listen to some German music, down a pint of ale, and enjoy the coming of Halloween during the village-sponsored Octoberfest celebration on Saturday.

The annual Octoberfest celebration kicks off at the village’s Lakefront Park, 71 Nippersink Drive, at noon, Deputy Village Clerk Carol Ward said.

It will feature food, drink, lively music and games for the kids, she said.

Children will be able to paint a small pumpkin and participate other crafts, Ward said, and there will also be a hay ride, a petting zoo, a bouncy castle, and other activities for children.

“There is a $6 bracelet for purchase for children who want to do all the different activities,” she said. “We always have a great turn out.”

The band “The Alpiners” will play music from noon to 3 p.m., while the local rock band “Paper Airplanes of Fire” will take the stage from 4 to 8 p.m.

There is no entrance cost, but food and drink costs money depending on the item, she said. Children’s activities are $1, she said.
