Ÿ Mario A. Prado, 19, of the 400 block of St. Charles Street, appeared in bond court Wednesday on felony charges of possession of a firearm by a street gang member, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, possession of a firearm without a firearm owner’s identification card and possession of a firearm while younger than 21 with a prior misdemeanor, according to court documents. Prado was also charged with misdemeanor charges of street gang contact and resisting an officer, documents said. Elgin police stopped Prado at about 7 p.m. Tuesday at National and Raymond streets while driving with another gang member, according to police. Prado was found with a loaded, sawed-off shotgun up his sleeve, police said. Bail was set at $250,000, of which Prado must pay 10 percent to be released before his next court date, scheduled Oct. 6 in St. Charles.

Ÿ Jarvis E. Patterson, 25, of the 1000 block of Highbury Drive, appeared in bond court Wednesday, charged with trying to pay with counterfeit $20 bills just before 2 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald’s, 401 Summit St., according to heavily redacted police reports and court documents. Cedrick L. Sanders, 38, of the 0-99 block of Kensington Loop, was arrested and later charged with obstructing an officer, a misdemeanor, for blocking access to his taxi cab, where officers wanted to search for more counterfeit cash, reports said. Patterson told police there was a total of $140 in counterfeit bills and he received it all from Sanders, but police did not find enough probable cause to charge him with having counterfeit bills. Bail was set at $20,000 for Patterson Wednesday, of which he must pay 10 percent to be released before his next court date, scheduled Oct. 5 in St. Charles.

Ÿ Deonte S. Maclin, 22, of the 11700 block of South Bishop Street in Chicago, appeared in bond court Wednesday on felony charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and possession of marijuana as well as a misdemeanor charge of resisting a police officer, according to court documents. Police made a traffic stop shortly after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 0-99 block of Oxford Road, where Maclin was the passenger in the vehicle, police said. Maclin was found with about 42 grams of marijuana and more than $4,000 in cash, police said. Bail was set at $50,000, of which Maclin must pay 10 percent to be released before his next court date, scheduled Oct. 5 in St. Charles.
