War on terrorism is not over

In response to Mr. Robinsons column on Sept. 12, “Recognize war is over and move on.” I could not believe what I was reading. It’s an insult to my intelligence, my common sense and the reality of the world we live in. The war against the terrorists will never end, just as our fight to retain our freedom in the United States. Mr. Robinson stands for everything that’s wrong with the mindset that will allow our country to be attacked again.

The war did not start on 9/11, it started two decades earlier. With constant attacks during that time frame. Did he forget when we were attacked before 9/11. Did he forget about the do-nothing former President Clinton? But, the economy was humming right along, so let’s not worry about attacks on our country because my portfolio looks great.

What is Mr. Robinson thinking when he said we were not attacked by terrorists? Who were we attacked by? Certainly not by the tooth fairy. How can he say that we are not fighting a war on terrorism? Who are we fighting? We have not won anything yet, and it’s naive to think otherwise.

We are making some great strides against the people who want to hurt our great country. The fight is far from over. It takes brave people to stand up and say I want to fight for my country, my freedoms, and the American way of life. Freedom does have a price that we must all pay.

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill. That we will pay any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of freedom.” Do you know who said this? Let me know if you do.
