Vista hosts ‘Healthy Woman expo, dinner

Healthy Woman, a Vista Health System resource, is celebrating its third anniversary on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort.

The event will begin with a free Women’s Health Expo from 3 to 6 p.m., immediately followed by a ticketed dinner featuring inspirational guest speaker Abby Rike from NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.”

The expo is sponsored by Vista Health System and open to the public at no charge. It includes a wide range of presentations by Vista physicians, along with information or screenings related to cholesterol, cardiac care, weight management and breast health.

Dozens of local vendors will offer a variety of beauty products, apparel, jewelry, spa/fitness services, popular household items and much more.

Abby Rike gained national recognition on “The Biggest Loser” after she faced an unfathomable tragedy in October 2006 following the deaths of her husband, 5-year-old daughter and 2-week-old son in an auto accident.

Abby’s journey of healing and wellness became public on the popular NBC reality show in May 2009. She lost 100 pounds through the experience while gaining peace and strength that she now shares with others throughout the country as a motivational speaker and educator.

At this year’s Healthy Woman dinner, Abby will speak about how health and wellness promotes spiritual, emotional and physical healing.

Dinner tickets are $25 for Healthy Woman members and $30 for nonmembers (cash bar not included). Healthy Woman membership is free. Dinner seating is limited and advanced reservations are required.

The Marriott Lincolnshire Resort is just south of Half Day Road and east of Milwaukee Avenue. The expo will be held in the resort’s new Grand Marquee Tent, with the dinner in the Grand Ballroom. Limited expo vendor space is still available. Interested vendors should contact Kelly Keefe at Kelly_Keefe@chs.net.
