Woman accused of killing mother-in-law, burying body near Des Plaines

A Bloomington woman is charged with choking her mother-in-law and then leaving the woman to gasp and die.

WGLT radio in Normal reports that 45-year-old Misook Wang is charged in the death of 70-year-old Wenlan Tyda of Southwest suburban Crest Hill. McLean County prosecutors say Wang lured her mother-in-law to central Illinois by making Tyda think a job was available translating Chinese.

Bloomington police found Tyda’s clothes and belongings in the trash near Wang’s home. Tyda’s husband called police when she didn’t return home.

Prosecutors say Wang eventually admitted she killed Tyda and then led authorities to the buried body at a forest preserve near Des Plaines. A probable cause statement shows Wang and Tyda feuded over Tyda’s intervention into Wang’s marriage to Tyda’s son.
