Police arrest two men connected to McHenry County burglaries

McHenry County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a number of unsolved residential burglaries that may be connected to two men who police said were found with stolen goods in their vehicle.

Nicholas Batzler, 32, of Loves Park and James Tarrant, 43, of Rockford, were arrested on Sept. 2 after police said they found televisions, guns and pillow cases in their vehicle that were stolen from four homes in Rock County.

Two search warrants were executed on the suspects’ residences where police found more stolen property, including items from two homes in McHenry County in unincorporated Marengo, police said.

McHenry County sheriff’s police are working with investigators from Boone, Rock, Ogle and Winnebago counties in an attempt to link the men to other burglaries.

The two suspects were pulled over in Rock County, Wis., when police said they noticed a “suspicious vehicle” and later discovered goods from four residential burglaries in Rock County.

Charges of residential burglary and theft are forthcoming, and additional charges are pending, according to police.
