Elgin

Ÿ A laptop computer and more than a dozen pieces of gold jewelry were reported stolen sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday from a home in the 200 block of North Porter Street, according to police reports. In a possibly related case, someone reported an attempted burglary in the 100 block of North Porter Street after catching a man trying to get in a window, reports said.

Ÿ A laptop computer, an iPod and jewelry were reported stolen sometime between 7 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Wednesday from a home on the 600 block of Laurel Street, according to police reports.

Ÿ A snowblower was reported stolen at an unknown time between Aug. 26 and Wednesday from a garage in the 600 block of Keep Avenue in Elgin, according to police reports. The garage also had lawn mowers and other items that were left untouched, reports said.

Kane County

Ÿ Three mailboxes on the 40W800 block of Hidden Lake Drive near Elgin were broken and vandalized between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:15 a.m. Sunday, according to sheriff's reports.

Ÿ A TAG Heuer Kirium watch, a GPS device and sunglasses, a total value of $2,300, were stolen between 11 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday from a vehicle in the 100 block of Lake Shore Drive near Carpentersville, reports said.
