Sunday high school football is progress?

The scriptures tell us that Jesus went to his hometown Nazareth where he was raised and entered the synagogue on the Sabbath as was custom. He read from the scriptures, which he interpreted as speaking of him.

Traditionally in this country people went to church on Sunday. (In the Chicago home in which I was raised, we went to church Sunday morning and evening.} Our social life was with church people. (Two of four of us offspring became ministers.) Sunday sports was left to the professionals.

Recently, the public schools in DuPage County have scheduled high school football games that conflict with the traditional 11 a.m. church hour. Our tax money is being used against, if you will, “religion.” This is progress? We need to re-think this one.
