Buffalo Grove debater earns national honor

Emma Bueso, a senior at Buffalo Grove High School, has earned the National Forensic League’s degree of Premier Distinction, the highest student rank in the honor society and a reflection of sustained excellence in speech and debate activities.

An Arlington Heights resident, Emma is one of 551 high school students throughout the nation, and just 13 from Illinois, to earn the honor. The achievement places her among the top one half of 1 percent of NFL’s student members. Emma has participated on the high school’s speech team since her freshman year. She attended NFL Nationals in both her sophomore and junior years, and was a state finalist in the category of Humorous Interpretation in her junior year, earning 7th place overall. She was an event session leader in her junior year and now serves as speech team captain.

The National Forensic League is a not-for-profit honorary society whose mission is to promote high school and middle school speech and debate activities. For more information, visit www.nflonline.org.
