Mount Prospect man charged with 4th DUI

A 43-year-old Mount Prospect man who prosecutors say has three prior DUI convictions, has been charged with a fourth.

A Cook County judge set bail at $30,000 for Gonzalo Rodriguez, of the 1700 block of Chariot Court, who police arrested driving north on Busse Road at about 5 p.m. Saturday.

Mount Prospect police stopped him driving 60 mph in a 40 mph zone, said prosecutors at Rodriguez’s bail hearing Monday in Rolling Meadows.

Officers noticed Rodriguez had bloodshot, glassy eyes and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, prosecutors said. After he failed field sobriety tests, officers transported him to the police department, where his blood alcohol content registered .214, prosecutors said.

Rodriguez’s background includes convictions for misdemeanor DUI in 1996 and 2001 and a felony DUI conviction from Lake County in 2003. He was also convicted of reckless driving in 2001, prosecutors said.

Rodriguez must post 10 percent or $3,000 to be released from jail. He next appears in court on Sept. 20.
