Democrats wouldn’t have tried to cut debt

In the past few weeks I have read with great interest a few letters, most notably the one from the president of the Kendall County Democratic Women, blaming Fox News, Michele Bachmann and the tea party for the debt ceiling debacle and the current state of the economy.

This is the classic case of “shooting the messenger.” The people she is blaming for the problem are the ones who brought the problem to the forefront to discuss a solution. If they had not, would the Democrats have proposed to do anything relating to a debt problem that stands to sink the economy? She knows the answer. The Democrats had nothing proposed and were going to continue to raise the debt ceiling as many administrations have done previously.

The Democrats had, from November 2008 to November 2010, majorities in both houses of Congress and the presidency and never even mentioned the debt issue. They generated the largest annual deficits in the history of the country and didn’t even publish annual budgets required by law.

The Democratic “solution” to the problem in Kendall County is to blame someone else while, if you check the facts, you see that the people in charge have done nothing in over two years to solve the issue they complain about.
