New Nike Shoes & Socks for 57 Children to Hit the Ground Running Back to School!

With the school year quickly approaching, for children that means new shoes, clothing and backpacks. But for the many children whose parents are struggling with the economy, it's not always easy to give their children the back to school basics. In July volunteers from Famous Footwear began measuring children grades K-HS who regularly attend the Emmaus House Community Dinner. Children were given a ticket to claim their 'surprise'. On August 14 excitement filled the air as the children presented their ticket to receive their new Nike shoes. Enough money was granted to include a 6-pair package of socks for each student. An area had been set up to ensure the shoes fit properly. To see the look on the children's faces and watch them dance around was heart warming and thanks enough for all involved.
