Gurnee robbers on loose

Gurnee police say they are probing a robbery that occurred Sunday night in the men’s restroom near the Viking Park dance hall on Old Grand Avenue. Police said an officer at the park’s north end responded immediately after the call at 9:46 p.m. but the suspects couldn’t be located. Police said the 40-year-old and 24-year-old men from Stone Park, who were the victims, had attended a private event in the dance hall that had ended earlier. They stopped in the restroom before driving home. A black man then walked in and held a small handgun to the head of the 40-year-old man, police said. Wallets and cash were taken from each victim. Witnesses told police there were three suspects, all men, who ran from the area. Two of the suspects were described as men with dark clothing. Another was described as black, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 30 to 35 years old, wearing a dark-colored hooded-type sweatshirt, blue jeans and dark shoes or boots. He was armed with a small silver-colored handgun. Anyone with information may contact Gurnee police at (847) 599-7000 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
