Man charged in Round Lake Park arson

A man has been arrested for dousing a vehicle with gasoline and torching it in an act of revenge early Monday in Round Lake Park, authorities said.

Police Chief George Filenko said an immigration hold has been placed on Cecilio Froulan, 33, who's been living on the 300 block of Bernice Court in Round Lake.

Froulan was charged with arson and is to appear at a bond hearing today in Lake County circuit court, Filenko said.

Filenko said police were summoned at 12:53 a.m. Monday on a report of a burning car on the 200 block of East Main Street. Witnesses provided a description to officers of a man seen running from the vehicle.

Officers found Froulan, Filenko said, and recovered a plastic gas canister. Froulan's clothing was saturated with fuel as well, the chief said.

Later Monday, detectives learned the vehicle belonged to a woman whose husband punched Froulan in a Round Lake bar fight several days ago, according to Filenko.

Froulan admitted to the arson, Filenko said.
