Superheroes celebrate an action packed birthday

Bang! Boom! Kerpow! Friends and family members of the Chelberg clan celebrated Cameron's first and Jadyn's upcoming fourth birthday at a Superhero party at Prairie Lakes Community Center on Saturday, August 20.

The action-packed day began with the tiny superheroes building a web fit for Spiderman; creating plastic cup castles; and a search for their old nemesis, The Joker. Play continued with pin the “S” on the Superman crest and a lightning fast round of “Hot Kryptonite.” Jadyn and friends then each decorated their own superhero cape, so they would be fashionably dressed as they prepared to defend their rights to life, liberty, and a happy birthday.

The Des Plaines Park District offers eleven themed birthday parties, for children ages 3 to 10 years old including the Superhero party, as well as a Hawaiian Luau, a Magic Party, and Pirate and Princess parties, to name a few.

Parents also have the option to work with the Des Plaines Park District to create their own party theme, such as one based on a favorite movie, sport, or book. Birthday parties are two hours long, and run by trained, experienced staff members that facilitate the games, crafts, and special events. Best of all, the staff cleans up, so everyone can enjoy the day.
