More spending will get us nowhere

In reply to James A. Prescott’s letter concerning the middle class, he apparently needs to check his facts. The Democrats’ philosophy is to depend on the government to take care of you from cradle to grave, while the Republicans believe you should control your own future.

When the Democrats had control of Congress they could have closed the loopholes but failed to act. Rep. Barney Franks overseeing the banking industry and forcing banks to make bad loans compounded the housing mess. Congress did not present a budget for 2011. This is like a charge card that has reached its limit. When most people reach their limit, they cut back, but Congress feels we should spend more.

The majority of people want to stop spending beyond our means, but Democrats say spend more. After creating this mess and bailouts that did not help the economy, no executives were prosecuted. The recent election by the people said stop spending and get our finances in order. Unemployment is still in the toilet and not getting any better. So, Democrats, get with the program. Stop spending and balance the budget.
