OAKBROOK TERRACE — Redbox, the national movie and game rental company, has officially checked in on Foursquare, a location-based mobile application with 10 million registered users.

The addition of more than 27,800 Redbox locations marks one of the largest Foursquare integrations at retail and lets consumers check in at familiar spots while they check out new-release movies and games at redbox.

“With more than 27,800 locations nationwide, mobile allows redbox to hyper-localize our engagement efforts,” said Amy Gibby, vice president of marketing, Redbox. “Foursquare significantly expands our mobile touch points and unlocks new ways for consumers to engage with Redbox at local kiosks.”

To kick off the integration, Redbox will invite movie and game fans to check in at Redbox during the latest Redbox 10 Days of Deals campaign, which runs August 15 through August 24. Throughout the campaign, consumers who check in at Redbox locations on Foursquare will unlock unique daily discount codes ranging from 10 cents to $1.00. The discount codes can then be used during Redbox kiosk transactions that day.

“It’s exciting to see redbox rewarding their millions of customers through the foursquare Specials platform,” said Eric Friedman, Director of Business Development for Foursquare. “The redbox 10 Days of Deals campaign is a great opportunity to introduce a huge group of consumers to the benefits of using foursquare.”
