Join the Hoffman Estates Jaycees 10th anniversary celebration

The Hoffman Estates Jaycees will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the start of the chapter during its regular monthly meeting, which is open to the public, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Hoffman Estates village hall, 1900 Hassell Road.

“We’d like to invite chapter alumni, past Jaycee scholarship recipients and anyone who is interested in improving their community or enriching their lives to attend our August meeting,” said Jeremy Ewing, 2011 Hoffman Estates Jaycee president. “We would like to at least double the size of our chapter so that we can do even more in the community.”

“The Jaycees are a great organization especially if you are looking to meet people, want to give back to the community or want to enrich your life,” said chapter membership vice president, Denise Schinberg.

The Jaycees are a leadership development organization using community service as a vehicle for growth and contribution. They provide individuals between the age of 21 and 40 the opportunity for leadership development and personal growth while serving their community. There are nearly 2,500 Illinois Jaycees in over 75 chapters throughout the state. Illinois has the largest number of Jaycees of any state in the U.S.

The Hoffman Estates chapter has 30 members. The chapter runs a wide variety of projects and fundraisers. At the end of the fiscal year all of the profit generated from chapter projects, less chapter expenses, is funneled back into the community. Included in these projects are the Make a Difference Day Food Drive, School Supply Drive, projects to benefit JCI Nothing but Nets, scholarships and others, which benefit the community directly and help raise money. Past trainings include communications skills, resume writing, how to use social media, public speaking, and more.

The Hoffman Estates Jaycees meet at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the Hoffman Estates village hall training room, 1900 Hassell Road, in Hoffman Estates.
