OAK BROOK — A. M. Castle & Co. announced Steve Hooks will be retiring as president of Castle Metals and Castle Metal Plates, effective March 2012.

Hooks worked 39 years with the Castle organization, and officials said he represents an exemplary level of leadership and commitment to the company.

“Steve has made significant contributions to the company and to the industry over the course of his career and I would like to personally thank him for being such a strong and loyal business partner”, said Mike Goldberg, CEO.

Hooks will continue in his current capacity until the end of the year, at which time he will be succeeded by Blain Tiffany. Hooks will then work on a special assignment until his retirement at the end of the first quarter 2012.

The company also announced that James Callan will succeed Blain as president of Castle Metals Aerospace. Callan comes from Timken, where he has spent 21 years in commercial and executive leadership roles most recently in the Aerospace and Defense division.

Tiffany will work with Callan and Hooks on a leadership transition plan for each commercial unit.

“Ensuring continuity of leadership is a critical objective of our succession planning efforts and knowing that Steve Hooks is available to collaborate on this important transition is reassuring,” Goldberg said.
