Mundelein High students to report first, as usual

As usual, Mundelein High School will be the first campus in Lake County to begin the 2011-12 term.

Incoming freshmen will have orientation from 7:45-11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9. They will take part in several activities with Link Crew leaders, learn about school rules and expectations, tour the building and locate their classrooms.

Wednesday, Aug. 10, will be a teacher institute day that runs from 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. No students will be in attendance.

Thursday, Aug. 11, is the first full day of classes for all students.

The school starts earlier than others so students can close the semester and take exams before the winter holiday break.

Other important dates for the first semester of the school year are:

Ÿ Aug. 17: open house.

Ÿ Sept. 5: Labor Day, no school.

Ÿ Sept. 7: Parent-teacher-student conferences.

Ÿ Sept. 16: Homecoming and 50th anniversary celebration weekend.

Ÿ Sept. 23: Teacher institute day, no school.

Ÿ Oct. 10: Columbus Day, no school.

Ÿ Oct. 13-14: First term exams.

Ÿ Nov. 23: Thanksgiving, no school.

Ÿ Dec. 19-20: Second term exams.

Ÿ Dec. 21: Winter holiday break begins.
