Woman pleads guilty to suburban salon thefts

The second of two women charged with burglarizing businesses in Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect last May was sentenced to two years probation in exchange for pleading guilty.

Erin J. Fidler, 34, also was sentenced to 25 days in Cook County Jail and ordered to pay $655 in fines for her part in the crimes.

Authorities say Fidler of Oak Park and co-defendant Deanna Soper, 35, of Mount Prospect, entered an Arlington Heights tanning salon about 2:50 p.m. May 24. While one woman tried to distract a female employee, the other slipped behind the counter and grabbed the woman’s wallet, authorities said. The defendants fled the scene and tried a similar ruse at other businesses later that day, police said.

Both women were charged with burglary. Soper pleaded guilty last month and was sentenced to 18 months probation and ordered to pay $120 in restitution.
