Palatine man gets five years for groping young girl

A Cook County judge sentenced a 21-year-old Palatine man to five years in prison this week for kissing and groping a 12-year-old girl while he was on probation for sexually abusing another victim.
Douglas E. Medrano, of the 1900 block of North Green Lane, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony punishable by up to seven years in prison.
Records show the court also found Medrano guilty of violating his probation, and ordered him to serve five years in prison for that violation. The sentences will be served concurrently.
Medrano, who received credit for 87 days in custody, must register as a sex offender upon his release.
