Bloomingdale clerk resigns to focus on career

After 10 years in her post, Bloomingdale Village Clerk Susan Bartucci will resign at the end of the week.

Bartucci said in a statement she chose to step down because her full-time job as a senior project manager for U.S. Cellular in Bensenville is demanding much more of her time.

Bartucci was appointed in January 2001 to fill the vacant clerk’s office, then was elected to the position in April 2001, 2005 and 2009.

Although her replacement has not been appointed, Village Administrator Martin Bourke made a recommendation to the village board that is currently under review and will be discussed in an executive session of an upcoming public meeting.

Bartucci has lived in Bloomingdale for more than 30 years and has been involved in various community service activities. Assistant Village Administrator Barb Weber said village staff is sad to see a “hands-on” worker like Bartucci go.

“We were like ‘No, you can’t leave,” said Weber. “It was really wonderful having Susan’s strong organizational skills and, really, just a willingness to do the work that needed to be done.”
